Microneedling with PRP

Introduction

Introduction to Microneedling with PRP

Microneedling with PRP is a natural, non-invasive anti-aging treatment that aims to enhance the skin by boosting collagen production through the creation of microinjuries as an incentive for the skin to bring in new blood flow and replenish its surface with healing properties. The platelet-rich plasma (PRP) add-on helps catalyze this entire process, resulting in skin with reduced blemishes, fine lines, wrinkles, and sunspots. Microneedling is the perfect treatment for those who are not interested in invasive and more involved therapies such as laser skin resurfacing or cosmetic surgery. If you are interested in receiving microneedling with PRP in Dunedin and the greater Tampa Bay area, consider scheduling an in-person consultation with board-certified plastic Surgeon Dr. Jennifer B. Buck at her Dunedin Plastic Surgery practice.

Dunedin Plastic Surgery is conveniently located to provide microneedling with PRP to patients in St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Palm Harbor, and the greater Tampa Bay, FL area.

What is Microneedling with PRP?

Microneedling with PRP, also known as Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT), is an FDA-approved procedure for skin enhancement. During this procedure, Donna, our skilled esthetician, moves a microneedling device over the target area, creating microscopic needle punctures on the skin’s surface. These tiny micro-wounds then stimulate natural skin rejuvenation as the body triggers the healing process, creating more collagen and elastin in the process. With the PRP add-on, Dr. Buck applies PRP to these micro-wounds after she uses the device to prick the skin, catalyzing the healing process with the high density of platelets around the micro-injuries. The PRP is made before the procedure is initiated by drawing a blood sample and spinning it in a centrifuge.

A young woman with blonde hair is seen from the mid-chest up, her face bathed in warm sunlight. Her eyes are closed, and she appears relaxed. Shadows from leaves create an interesting pattern on her face and clothing. She wears a simple white button-up shirt and a delicate silver necklace with a small round pendant. The dark, out-of-focus background emphasizes the serene light and shadow play. - Mirconeedling with PRP in Dunedin, FL

Once all is confirmed, your blood will be drawn to help create the platelet-rich plasma. It will be spun in a centrifuge, and then the plasma will be collected with a syringe, ready to be injected into the skin. Finally, a topical analgesic will be applied to begin the microneedling part of the treatment.

After you are numb, Dr. Buck will gently move the microneedling device across the target area, making fine microscopic punctures. After this part of the process is completed, the PRP will be massaged onto the skin to populate platelets around the microinjuries to help hasten the release of collaged and elastin to the sites.
